30th Reunion September 19, 2009!Friday, 9/18/09: Grandview home football game then on to Grandview
Cafe for some activity involving alcohol consumption
Don't forget the insanely great time we had 5 years ago - read folks post-reunion comments here. Below is a copy of Jerry's excellent announcement letter (July 2009)Our Stocks, Savings, and Retirement Plans: R.I.P. Last hint of hair on Curt Berlin’s head: R. I. to the freakin’ P. (long time ago) Times they are a changin’! Who’d a thunk back when we graduated in 1979 that Michael Jackson would die a dreary old white guy and in Washington we would replace dreary old white guys with our first black President? Truly amazing. Who’d a thunk that e-mail, social networking, texting, tweeting, twiddling (I just made that up) and instant messaging would replace phone calls when a brother was lookin’ to hook-up? Wait…what? That’s not where I meant to go with that. The point is, change is everywhere. But the good news is, we made it! We’re here! Sure, some of us are still chugging Pabst Blue Ribbon and listening to Robin Trower 8-track tapes, but hey, Lawhead has progressed in many other positive ways so we’re in no position to judge (love you Tommy, my cuddly Facebook buddy). I digress. It’s THIRTY F-ING YEARS PEOPLE! Forget about it! Whatever it was, whatever it is, whatever you’re thinking, worried about, afraid of, embarrassed by, you think someone remembers, maybe something you did or didn’t do, some anger you felt toward somebody, or maybe it’s something you’re not proud of about your life then, now, or sometime in between...FORGET IT! Nobody cares. It’s been thirty years since we walked out of Grandview High School and we’re still here…THAT is all that matters. I can talk to any one of you today, as if I just saw you yesterday, and the exact same way I would have 30-years ago. What the hell is that? Who has that? We do and we always did. And I know for a fact that every one of us has at least one other of us who we would consider among the closest friends in our lifetime. Don’t take that for granted. I’m writing this on 7/20/09, 17-years to the day we lost our only classmate to my knowledge, Lynne. Don’t take for granted there will always be a next time. So it’s our 30th Reunion. Does that sound old or what? But we’re not old, we’re awesome. That’s why everybody needs to get to this thing, to strut our awesomenicity. No excuses. I’m talking to you Moschellos, Amy Bobbitt out in the desert…go pickup Greg Schilder and drag both of your butts back to Columbus (Judi Exline too). Linda Beck, Della Flora, Doolittle, Richard Johns…where are you? I know you feel me Todd Theodore, Amy Shaudys, Amy Moore, Kathy Hartwell. Tommy Hutch, Tammy Flaherty you still live in Central Ohio, no excuses! And I know those Carlisle girls are going to be there, but what of my fellow west coaster, Manack? Come on Mark, I stopped by your store in downtown Seattle a few months ago unannounced and missed you, but I don’t want to miss you in September, or anyone else. We want to see all of you, not just the exact same people every reunion. Hell, I have to see Launer so often that after 26-years in L.A. I ended up buying a house in Columbus just to have a place to get away from him. No, none of you are invited to stay there, forget I mentioned it. So here’s the deal, and it couldn’t be simpler:
That’s it. Just do it. And PLEASE help us contact other classmates by sending email addresses to me here: jerrygpickett@gmail.com. Don’t forget to check Paul’s website for the latest info: http://ghhs1979.ifastnet.com/index.html and see you in September. Send Paul an update on your life to be included on the site. Also, please look over our Most Wanted List to see if you know how to contact any of those folks. Seacrest OUT! New Yahoo email group for all GHHS grads from the 1970s:Please consider joining the 1970s Yahoo group - there are a lot of alums there and sometimes the discussions bring back some great memories. Check it out at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GrandviewHigh70s/. It is run by Norma Jean Koutz Wallace from the class of 1973. By the wayI sure would like to have email addresses for everyone in the class. If you haven't sent me an email address fire it off to schulzp@rrohio.com.Also, it would be great if you would just send a short sentence or 2 for the Where are they Now page. It will really help folks get reconnected. We want to know you are alive and well. |
